A Hero Sandwich in Honor of a True Hero

The town has been all abuzz with the recent tragic news of the killing of Officer Jack Maguire. Maguire was responding to a call of an armed robbery at a local Kohl's when we blocked the criminals from escaping to their getaway car and was shot down in the process. Maguire sacrificed his life so Woburn could be safe. For that we will be eternally grateful.

I really wanted to do something to honor him so I developed a simple Hero Sandwich recipe.

Four Simple Drinks for Ringing in the New Year

Check out my latest article with four recipes for alcoholic drinks that are simple to make and perfect for ringing in the New Year. Don't you hate it when a cocktail recipe has a laundry list of fancy and expensive liqueurs that you don't have and don't really want to get? Well, these four drinks are simple, easy to make and you probably already have the booze necessary for them. Hot Toddy with Rum, Peppermint Schnapps Hot Chocolate, Peach-Raspberry Sparkling Sangria and Cranberry Mimosa.

Festive Holiday Brownies

Check out my latest article which includes a recipe for Festive Holiday Brownies. That's dark chocolate-peppermint brownies, drizzled with white chocolate and topped off with crushed peppermint candy. Mmmm....

A new gig and Lemon-Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes

Starting today, I'm the new food columnist for the Woburn Patch. I'll be writing weekly articles about food and featuring recipes as much as I can. This is a great opportunity for me to challenge myself in the kitchen as well as hone my writing skills and involve myself more with my community.

Head on over to the Woburn Patch to see my column entitled "Thoughtful Eats" and my newest article about making Brunch at home. It features a recipe for Lemon-Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes. I'll be posting a link each week to the newest article. Even if you don't live in my town, I hope you'll check it out.
